.artist statement & work description. Interests center on creating inviting systems and spaces that explore augmented environments. Her research centers on emulative systems that explore the interconnection between us and the nature world.
Points of Interest is an exploration of how a projected animation can be grounded within a space. The animation morphs between a sky-space of imagined, geometric forms into the familiar night sky. The seating aims to allow a posture of contemplation, which is equivalent to how one views the starts.
some resulting goals: hope to make an inviting & comfortable space
PROJECT SUMMARY // My project is an investigation of how imagined, geometric objects can be visualized in a way that ties them into a setting with which we are familiar. I hope to transition from one "world" of platonic objects into a stylized version of the night sky. My concern, is it too nostalgic?
Art in a Space|INSTALLATION DETAILS // If we use the SoA Sandpoint Gallery, then I'd like to section off part of the hallway and have the entrance be the door built into the gallery wall. I'll bring in lawn chairs (or not - still deciding) and project my animation onto the ceiling. Hopefully this will be a dark room.
EQUIPMENT // I need a projector and a laptop or mac mini if possible. And I need the goggles that allow you to view in stereo. I will find lawn chairs. I may need to build a projecting surface, if the ceiling is not suitable.
CONDITIONS // I hope to use the door built into the gallery wall (like I stated above). Also, I require a dark space.
My latest test includes a dynamic blue background. Next step: animate stars popping into the frame; probably in 2D.
